Mingy Goat Climbing
Equipment is a wholly Australian owned company, based in
Newcastle New South Wales, specializing in the indoor rock-climbing market.
A small group of local climbers, we established a company intent
on providing high quality, locally produced handholds at an
affordable, accessible price.
This was achievable through, besides climbing, our group having
broad experience ranging from being full-time students through
to practising engineers, with an extensive background in the
composites industry. |

With over
fifteen years climbing experience, both indoor and out, our designer
knows what makes a good hold : shape and texture.
Mingy Goat Climbing Equipment spent 12 months developing the right
texture to climb on. It had to be rough enough to allow every
last bit of contact friction to be milked from it, but smooth
enough not to wear out your fingers, or graze you upon contact
whilst taking a `winger.'
Perhaps more important is the orientation. A route should be difficult
by the placement and form of the holds, not because placing weight
on that edge will likely shear your finger off. You are after
that delicious muscle pump, not aching tendons and finger joints.
With this in mind, and aware of the long term damage that can
be done to a climber's tendons, Mingy Goat Climbing Holds are
all designed to be as ergonomic as is possible. Where we can do
so without detriment to the form of a hold, we insist on correctly
radiused edges, which allow maximum skin contact, and minimize
tendon strain.
We offer all our holds in six distinctive colours, and two colour
types : Solid and Swirl. Whilst both easily demark a route or
sequence on a wall, the swirls add that something special, helping
to disguise their true form through a rippled colour scheme.
Many will notice our holds are larger than usual, and the sets smaller. This
is in an effort to give our climbers as much control over their walls as possible.
The larger hold size gives our designer as much room as possible to create a
series of different edges on the holds. This way, you control the grade, by simply NOT using
all of the surfaces, but you get more hold for your investment.
The smaller sets also give our customers better control over their dollar. Ever bought
a set and never used half the holds? If your wall is big enough, have a look at our combined sets.
If you have a small wall, mix 'n' match your holds and sets to give you exactly the holds you need
to train.
